Altered Landscapes.
The Photographs of John Pfahl.
Introduction by Peter Bunnell. Photographs by John Pfahl.
Friends of Photography, Carmel, CA, 1981. 54 pp., 9x12".
A book devoted to the work of John Pfahl, one of the most interesting of the conceptual photographers working today. Within his landscape photos, Pfahl uses colored lines, spheres, aluminum foil, and other materials, in playing with the translation of the three-dimensional outer world into the two-dimensional picture plane. For example, six oranges (actually spheres of different sizes) are laid on a path through a forest so as to appear the same size when photographed. This is #26 of the Untitled series published by the Friends of Photography.
